The GCSH Helps Put a Bird & Butterfly Garden to Bed

On a crisp and sunny morning in November, the GCSH Horticulture Committee sponsored its annual Fall Clean-up of the garden at Raritan Headwaters Association (RHA) in Far Hills, NJ. Ten members spent a very collegial morning working in the garden and catching up. It was a great, COVID-safe way to get out of the house and see some friendly faces. Members were asked to do a thorough cleanup (RHA leaves seeds pods and habitat for birds and critters elsewhere on their 170+ acres). So, with the club's help, the garden looked quite tidy. Cindy Ehrenclou, the Executive Director of RHA, wrote in an email to co-chairs Nancy Bassett and Cynthia Richards after the cleanup, "I just wanted to thank you and your amazing team of volunteers for your time and all the hard work you accomplished last Monday, putting our Bird & Butterfly Garden to bed for the winter. I was giving a tour of Fairview Farm this morning – so proud to show off our neat and tidy garden! We truly appreciate our wonderful partnership with the Garden Club of Somerset Hills. Over many years we have been grateful recipients of your Community Grants and hands-on help.”
