DAFFODIL BULB WORKSHOP

Monday November 13th at 9:30AM - Grania’s Barn

In preparation for the club Hort Show next spring, Committee Co-Chairs Kim Mell and Grania Allport will host a workshop! One of the Show Classes will be a narcissus (aka Daffodil) bulb challenge.

At the workshop, you will be given three bulbs and a container to put them in so that they can be cold stratified and then forced in the early spring.  Other daffodil bulbs will be available for sale.

There will be a SignUp Genius set up for the workshop.

GCSH HORT SHOW APRIL 17, 2024

Class 22-24 Challenge Class – a narcissus bulb provided by GCSH and grown by exhibitor

      Class 22    Narcissus Marieke 1Y-GYY

      Class 23    Narcissus Tete a Tete  12Y-Y

Class 24   Narcissus Barret Browning  3WWY-O

As you can see from above, the daffodils are from different divisions and are different colors. See below the Throckmorton Color Code sheet to learn what the different letters represent color-wise. The numbers in front of the letters mean the Division number of the daffodil; so for example Class 22 in a division 1 daffodil which is a trumpet daffodil. Class 23 is a division 12 daffodil ,which is an interesting division as it incorporated daffodils who incorporate  the particulars of several divisions and Tete a Tete is a familiar one to most people and is also a miniature. Class 24 Narcissus Barret Browning is a Division 3 small cup daffodil. Divisions 1-4 are considered Lower divisions while Divisions 5-13 are considered Upper Divisions as classified by the Royal Horticulture Society.
