GCSH Gardens Follow Olmsted Tradition

As the Garden History and Design Zone IV Representative, Ryder Ziebarth was tasked with writing a feature article for the April eNews magazine about a documented garden within our zone. She chose former member Christina Chrobokowa and her gardens in Gladstone. Lee Scher and Ryder documented the gardens in 2013-14. The article describes how Christina's gardens are landscaped in the Olmsted tradition.

Ryder was also part of the production team who created a professional documentary film on Olmsted for the Division V educational class of the annual 2021 Flower Show. Many of the photos from Christina's gardens are in the film, and many months of very interesting and constant work went into this project. Ryder did all this, as well as guiding through a major documentation for the Smithsonian and leading the twelve zones monthly toward their stewardship of the Olmsted 200 projects. It's been an exciting year of garden history and design for Ryder - Congratulations!
